What does our financial crisis look like?

Mint (the financial management app) and Wallstats (the guy who does the Death and Taxes poster) put together a visual guide to the financial crisis - or a flow chart, rather - to clear up some of those cloudy details. It goes back to 2003 after the dot-com crash up to the recent government bailout.

16 weeks friday 7 Nov 2008

Baby call – Leah is heading for 4 months this friday.  I still look at her in awe and have to remind myself that this is my little daughter.  She’s healthy and bright, alert and happy and chilled and .. teething!  Poor baby.  However, with all this growth going on – she’s started to sleep through the night.  It happened last Tuesday 28th of October, I got up about 2.30am, a bit groggy like, and with no noise coming in over the monitor, I snook in and had a peek – she was sleeping soundly….and so it continued a few more times through the night..she woke at about 6.30am in terrific form- chatting away to the zebra attached to her cot.  Couldn’t believe that she had slept from 7pm until 6.30am.

my sweet little girl, pure and innocent, contemplating her new life..

6 weeks and 10lbs

Paul and I brought Leah to Dr. Helen for her 6 week checkup and she weighed in at 10lbs exactly.  All relexes are normal and she’s growing well.  Helen is very pleased with both of our progress! Now I just have to shed the weight! Back to Dr. Helen in 2 weeks for the next set of vaccinations.  We are off to South Africa, all 3 of us, in Jan to visit the Watsons and friends.  I can’t wait – Leah will be 6months old and even more socialable than she is now!  A real little charmer.  She’s eating and sleeping well.  We have a routine for the evening, but the daytimes are still a little flexible.  Trying to get her down for a scheduled nap in the afternoon now.  She is very good in the morning and around lunchtime we have a playtime with new things for her to play with and new sensations to explore.  I dont’ have my own pics to put up right now – still trying to locate my camera! Well it’s late and herself will be waking up soon for a feed…bless.

Leah Watson

well – it’s been a while but I haven’t been idle!  Leah Ellen Watson was born to Paul and I on July 18th 2008 at 13.58.  She weighed in at a mere 6lbs 6oz.  The very very super staff at Waterford Regional Hospital decided to bring Leah into the world and we began delivery at 1.30pm, Leah was born 28mins later.  Couldn’t wait to make her entrance!  I can’t describe adequately the feeling of pure joy when she was placed on my chest to say hello to mummy and daddy straight after birth.  The cord was cut and Leah started on her life in this world. Mummy and Daddy are still overwhelmed and amazed that we created this perfect little girl.  This little person came from me – still gets me! She’s 5 weeks old now and so alert, smart and interactive… Our families have been amazing – our friends have been amazing. Paul’s family are dying to meet her….so we are off to South Africa in January 2009 to meet the rest of the Watson clan.  I can’t wait.  She will be 6months old and I’m sure a little charmer.  Here are a couple of pics from the many many that daddy has taken and put up on his flickr site, check them out here.

Some pics:

she loves bathtime already – took to it straight away, cried when we took her out and now it helps to calm her…water baby in the making!

That’s it folks – until my next entry…Oh – I have to thank here my old friend Helen – Dr. Helen who has looked after us so so well over the past 10 months…see you friday hon, and thank you to all our friends who sent us so many beautiful gifts from home here and abroad!  We are very fortunate.
