interesting article on Read/WriteWeb yesterday by Richard MacManus.
“Davide Casaleggio sent a tip to Read/WriteWeb about a video his company produced exploring the future of media……”
good video and some interesting comments.
When I sent the link onto paul, he came back with this: Museum of Media History 2014 – you probably know it better as EPIC 2014
enjoy.
I recommend most strongly that if you get involved with Clear-wire you have a good escape plan…
when you close your account:
1. stop all direct debits to the company (if this is possible with your bank!).
2. ensure you received the necessary forms to send your equipment back in a REASONABLE time period. My form to post back my modem didn’t arrive until just before they debitted the next months invoice from my account.
I accept the company must endure people not returning the modems, fine, but I don’t appreciate not being given the option. I don’t appreciate being held to ransom.
Clear-wire -I enjoyed reasonable web access from you for just over a year – and paid you 40euro a month for the privilage….why treat me like a criminal now?
god – it feels like i’ve had more brushes with new tech in the last 48hrs than I have in the last .. few years…
Shozu is another mobile app that allows you to upload photos and video from your phone to your favourite website – I selected my own flickr site from their list of compatible partners so far. I’m sure this will increase as time goes on..but worth having a look i think…even though i have a small and unfashionable mobile (6230i with 1.3mp camera) it takes a good quality picture that uploads very well to flickr. I had less hassle sending pics to flickr via shozu than I did from my pc!
I was going to have a look for a photo on my pc to show you but i should just send you to the flickr site instead eh? http://www.flickr.com/photos/fionahaughney/
right i’m off. adios.
i posted on march 23rd that the pakistani coach, bob woolmer was stangled in his hotel room. It would appear that this is now incorrect..according to the police in Jamaica, he died of natural causes!
hmmm…..
Widsets – mobilize your web. From the Widset webpage:
“WidSets brings you information normally accessed via the Internet, directly into your mobile phone. Using mini-applications called widgets, it sends you updates made to your favorite websites. The system uses RSS feeds to push information from these websites directly into your mobile phone the minute theyre updated.”
“The best thing about WidSets is its simplicity. You simply install WidSets on your phone, select the widgets that interest you (or create your own in the Studio), and start using it. As soon as one of your chosen websites is updated (e.g. a news service, blog or weather forecast site), the widget for that website sends you an alert. Wherever you are, you are always kept up-to-date.”
I have uploaded flickr, foreca (v good – even has waterford!) and Techcrunch for now…and I have even created my own widget for my own blog site here! My username is fionah.
BTW: my phone is a little nokia 9210i or something along those lines and it works great! You don’t HAVE to have a big swish hyper-tech phone to be cool
So – get in there and have a go – do it! do it! Don’t be baffled by science – this tech is for everyone!
feedhenry is an intuitive really simple syndication tool. I have found it to be an easy to use, visually clean and efficient tool. it’s creators are a group of young energetic programmers in the 3Cs group – a commercial team attached to the Waterford Institute of Technology here in Ireland.
FeedHenry was born out of an idea by Brian Delahunty and Paul Watson. They hatched the idea and Paul came to Ireland from South Africa to work on it. Brian has left 3CS now to work in America and FeedHenry has been renamed (for now
) to MilliFeed.
So – from the website the boys believe: “Millifeed is focused on delivering the potential of feeds to everyone. We are building out a platform on which a series of applications and services can be developed. While most of us are hard-core feed junkies here at Millifeed we also have a vision of feeds for everyone.”
Best of luck to the boys – I love that I can use a feed app without knowing any of the tech mumbo jumbo behind it! True web2.0 no?
got a very simple, basic email from an old friend in the states…cubik. he has set up a very very cool site called CubikMusik (http://cubikmusik.typepad.com/cubikmusik/)
On this site, he provides us with an insight into many little known music spheres and we love him for it. He is tireless and generous with his research and discoveries.
He recently sent me the following link with some fond memories and a song he knew i’d like…check it: cubikmusik.typepad.com/cubikmusik/2007/06/you_know_you_go.html
Thank you Cubik. Love you man.
